Things to Do in Shimla Manali

Things to Do on Your 6 Days Shimla Kullu Manali Taxi Tour from Delhi

  • Explore the Colonial Charm of Shimla. Shimla, once the summer capital of British India, still carries a strong colonial influence. A walk along The Ridge and Mall Road introduces you to Victorian-era architecture, lively cafés, and local handicraft shops. Don’t miss Christ Church, one of the oldest churches in North India, and Jakhoo Temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman, perched on the highest hill. Respect local norms by dressing modestly while visiting temples and observing silence in spiritual places.
  • Visit Kufri – The Snow-Lover’s Paradise. Just 16 km from Shimla, Kufri is a must-visit for snow sports. During winter, skiing and tobogganing make it lively, while in summer, horse riding and yak rides are popular. Kufri also houses the Himalayan Nature Park, where travelers can see rare species like the Himalayan Monal (state bird of Himachal).
  • Discover Kullu’s Spiritual & Adventure Side. Kullu is known as the “Valley of Gods”, filled with ancient temples, rivers, and apple orchards. Pay a visit to Raghunath Temple (dedicated to Lord Rama), and experience the colorful traditions during Kullu Dussehra, a UNESCO-recognized cultural festival. Adventure seekers can try river rafting in the Beas River, paragliding in Dobhi, or trekking in Tirthan Valley. Always follow local guides’ instructions for safety.
  • Embrace the Beauty of Manali. Manali offers a mix of natural beauty, history, and spirituality. Start with Hadimba Devi Temple, a 16th-century wooden temple surrounded by cedar forests, deeply revered by locals. Explore the buzzing Old Manali lanes filled with cafés, Israeli bakeries, and vibrant handicrafts. For peace-seekers, visit Manu Temple, believed to be dedicated to Sage Manu, the creator of human civilization according to Hindu mythology.
  • Experience Solang Valley & Rohtang Pass. Solang Valley is a hub for paragliding, zorbing, skiing, and ATV rides. In contrast, Rohtang Pass, at 13,050 ft, opens the gateway to the higher Himalayas and offers breathtaking snow-covered landscapes almost year-round. Remember, temperatures drop drastically here, so carrying warm clothes is essential. Locals request travelers not to litter in these eco-sensitive zones.
  • Dive into Local Culture & Cuisine. Throughout your journey, indulge in Himachali cuisine – from “Siddu” (a steamed bread) to “Madra” (a curd-based delicacy). If you’re lucky, you may witness a local folk dance performance like Nati, which is also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for mass participation. Be respectful when clicking photos of locals or cultural ceremonies – always ask permission first.
  • Shop Local Handicrafts. Shimla’s Lakkar Bazaar is famous for wooden souvenirs, while Kullu is known for its handwoven woolens and Pashmina shawls. Manali’s Tibetan Market offers traditional jewelry, prayer wheels, and handicrafts. Supporting local artisans helps preserve Himachal’s craft heritage.

This way, your 6-day taxi tour becomes a cultural, historical, adventurous, and soulful journey, not just sightseeing.
